To learn more about the services, I reached out to the customer service departments of both USPS and India Post. India Post was very responsive to my request for information. They answered all of my questions in a timely manner and were eager to help me learn more about how they can serve customers. USPS was similarly happy to answer all of my questions, but their responses lagged behind those from India Post by a week or two.
USPS vs India Post: The Delivery Times Are Similar
The most important part of international shipping is getting your package from one country to another as quickly as possible—getting your mail from Point A in the U.S. to Point B in Singapore or Point C in India is far better than getting it from Point A to Point B without any additional complication.
Both USPS and India Post deliver mail quickly. They’re both specialized services for moving mail from one country to another, and each has their own set of services that are tailored specifically for different types or destinations.
By far the most important thing to consider when shipping between countries is how long it takes the delivery process to complete—that’s a very important part of international shipping, but it’s often overlooked by international shippers.
Should you choose USPS, you can expect to receive a letter in the mail within 5-8 days after it’s been mailed. That letter will have the tracking number that you can use to track its progress.
India Post is slightly faster, with letters taking only 4-7 days to arrive. They also provide tracking numbers so that you can easily keep track of your shipment’s progress as it moves from one country to another.
The difference between the two services is similar to the difference between an express package being delivered overnight versus one being delivered two days later—the speed of delivery isn’t that important for international shipping.
